Info
The Hunt mission is simple. We want to produce the most progressive and diverse BMX DVD ever seen. With over $20,000 in cash and prizes, it’s a project that our sponsors believe in. We also believe that riders should have a say in who wins - that’s why our judges are riders themselves. Here is the breakdown. A rider and filmer team-up to produce a full video part and 20 second teaser by August 1st. The public sees your teaser and the judges see your video part. The judges collaborate and pick their top ten for the DVD. If you are in the top ten, you’ll get a VIP invite to the premiere in LA this fall and will find out if you won the grand prize at the World Premiere.
If you want a shot at this DVD project, please e-mail a link to a past sample vid to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Otherwise, you’ll be hearing from us.

FAQs
Q: Can I enter if I'm not pro?
A: Yes. Any hopefully when you make the DVD that will change.
Q: Can I enter if I'm am a pro?
A: Yes. This contest is open to everyon who rides at a high level.
Q: How will I know if I am one of the top-ten finalists?
A: Our people will call your people.
Q: Should I win, who gets the check?
A: The award will read Rider Name + Filmer Name (ie Jay Miron + Dave Parrick). To make things easy on us, the check will be cut to the rider and the split is up to the rider. Also, Jay Miron and Dave Parrick are not currently filming a video part. But how awesome would that be?
Q: Can I submit more than one video?
A: You can submit up to 2 videos if you are a filmer. You may be the rider in one video and the filmer of another video. You can only be a rider in one video.
Q: Can I be the rider and filmer for my own video. I have a tripod.
A: Yes, that would be awesome. Jonah Lidberg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwnUypOv3qM)
Q: Do I still own my footage for this project?
A: By submitting your video part to this contest, you agree to a “life of the product “licensing agreement whereby The Hunt may use the individual video parts for, and only for the contest and DVD project. In layman’s terms, if you want to be eligible for the money and prizes, you’ve got to let us use your footy exclusively for the DVD. We are working on a digital distribution plan with iTunes as well.
Q: Can I submit footage I filmed before the contest was announced but I never put it in a web video or video part?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I use footage from a past web edit?
A: Yes, only 10%. In the interest of having the best section possible, we are allowing riders to use clips filmed no more than one year ago as part of this DVD part. It’s highly likely that riders in this contest will have released clips within the last year that had they been filming a DVD part, they would have saved them for such a project. This will be totally up to the discretion of rider and filmer, but the other 90% of the edit must be new footage.
Q: Can I use my own music?
A: Yes. If you have written and produced music, you are a badass and that makes it easy for all of us. Also, if for some creative reason you don’t need music in your video, that’s your right as an artist. We will be gathering a collection of cleared music for riders to use for their video part. Check back on that later, but it will take the form of a Soundcloud account that each team will have access to. Another great resource would be http://www.youlicense.com where, you can quick license a song for a very small fee, very small and negotiate with the artist on a fair price for DVD and online use as background music.
Q: My buddy’s band is trying to put his band on the map. Is there a way for him to make his music available for this contest?
A: Yes! Please get in contact with us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Q: How should I export the footage for the contest?
A: Uncompressed .mov files are best straight out of Final Cut. Please export one version with titles and music credits, and another version with no music or title layers. This allows us to format the video part for the DVD and also edit an intro for the DVD.
Q: I still have more questions.
A: Send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we will do our best to answer any of your questions.
Music
You need to obtain permission to use the music for your section so we can print the DVD and also work with iTunes. We’ll be providing some music resources for the contest, but please feel free to check out http://www.youlicense.com for a very affordable music selection. It never hurts to ask, you’d be surprised how far that can get you. Further music details will be released this summer.
